WRESTLING.
WALKER DEFEATS VENTER. WHANGAREI, This Hay. George Walker (15.5) and iPeter Venter (14.8) were wrestling opponents for the first time in the Dominion at the Whangarei Town Hall last night. Walker won. in six: rounds, when he slammed Venter, who was unable to continue. The latter obtained a submission fall in the fifth round, and made the pace throughout.
ASHBURTON BOUT NEXT WEEK. Considerable' interest has been aroused by the Ashburton Wrestling Association’s decision to match McCready and Labriola at the Majestic Theatre next Thursday, as both men will come with a. reputation for wrestling at its best. Labriola has not been in New Zealand long, but he has given a good account of himself. Preliminary bouts will be given by the following local boys:—C. Shierlaw, E. Parson, E. B. McCallum, A. C. Johns, J. Sloper, L. A. Tait, T. S. Tarbotton and W. Cunliffe
