This variety has Dark Red flesh, and free from the earthy taste that spoils some varieties. This very fine stock is the result of long endeavours of the grower to produce a perfect type, and is quite distinct from the stocks usually offered under this name. Once grown—always grown. 6d per packet. BURPEE’S TALL, GOLDEN, SELFBLANCHING CELERY— This is a new, tall strain, which differs from the ordinary self blanching. The foliage is also quite distinct, and has been bred for disease-resistance. it is an extra early variety, which should be carefully tested by Celerygrowers for the market. 1/- per packet. FLETCHER’S IDEAL CARROT— It is quite coreless, and lias tender, almost transparent flesh of rich colour. Suitable for household or market gardener who wishes to supply products of extra good quality. 6d per packet. GENUINE SWEDISH GIANT CABBAGE— A most rapid grower, and great blight and drought resister. Large in size and mild in flavour. 1/- per pkt. 4/- per oz. (in oz. lots only). D.A.L. (Glenmore Street, AVellington) writes:— “A friend gave me a few plants of your Swedish Giant Cabbage, which he had grown from seed. For some reason thev were not affected by the white butterfly, although all the other members of the cabbage family wore spoilt by the pest.” BURPEE’S PRIZE-TAKER ONION— This Onion has proved it will do well in practically any climate or soil. The bulbs grow to enormous size, weighing ns much as »llb each. The thin skin is a beautiful golden brown, and the flesh is pure white, solid, crisp, juicy and mild. The plants make a vigorous bush growth, about 15 inches tall, loaded with fine pods 7.V to 8 weeks after planting; in cold districts will take a little longer. 6d plct; 2/6 per lb SUTTON’S PRIZE-WINNER RUNNER BEAN— This remarkable Bean is indispensable for exhibition. It is undoubtedly the longest-poddied variety in cultivation, some of the specimens we have seen measuring 21 inches in length. Notwithstanding immense size, the beans are in no way coarse, and, the table quality is superb. As the beans hang m large clusters an enormous crop is produced. Probably no other runner bean has won so many prizes as Sutton’s Prize-winner. To procure best results give liberal treatment of manure. 1/- per pkt. BURPEE’S PANSY, “Oregon Giant”Marvelloue Pansies, of extreme size, grown for us by the originator. This strain differs from others in that the flowers are somewhat more flattened, but this characteristic adds considerably to the size of the blooms, which, if well grown, measure 4 inches across. The originator exhibited such blooms at the Oregon Flower Show in 1928. A graceful wave adds beauty to the flowers that excel other pansies in size, and embrace as fine a colour range. 2/- per packet. HOLLYHOCK, ’’lmperator” This is one of the finest doublecrested Begonia, flowered Hollyhocks. Flowers 5£ to 6J inches across, consisting of wide outer petals, elegantly frilled and deeply fringed, in the centre of which appears a double rosette about 2 inches across, the whole suggesting a crested Begonia on a giant scale. The colourings include various tints of great beauty, such as CeriseSalmon, with centre of Rose, reflecting Rose; Delicate Pink, with centre of Rose, flushed Yellow, and numerous other wonderful combinations. 2/- per packet. GOLDEN GLEAM NASTURTIUM— Rich Golden semi-double flowers, with a pleasing perfume. 3d and 6d per packet. DAHLIA, Miniature or Charm—- “ Charm” Dahlias are becoming increasingly popular on account of their small and attractive flowers, in many striking colours. Splendid for cutting. By sowing seed early in July, in heat (plant out in October), will bloom from December till frosts. 1/- per pkt. LOBELIA, Cardinals, Queen Victoria— The finest Lobelia grown. Brilliant scarlet flowers, with dark foliage. 1/- per pkt, BURPEE’S MARIGOLD, “Dwarf Orange Ball” One of the finest of the Dwarf Marigolds. Has lovely, small, round, do tilde blooms of a bright orange colour. 6d per pkt. CARNATION, “Giant Double C'haubaud” (Clove Scented) — Finest mixed including the following : Crimson, Brilliant Scarlet, Terra. Cotta, Carmine, Pale Pink, Deep Rose, Ruby Purple, Salmon Pink, Snow White and Deep Yellow. These carnations should prove unusually attractive for market growers, both as cut flowers and as a, pot plant. They give abundance <f flowers of splendid form. If the .seed is sown ill July they can be planted out in the open in November, and will commence to flower in January, and continue throughout the season.- They are perfectly hardy, and if in a fairly sheltered spot will stand through the winter. 1/- per packet.
