A fire on the Mount Mitchell afforestation reserve, North Tablelands, laid waste in a few hours the work ot several years. About 125 acres were burnt out, and it is estimated that 80,000 trees, which were planted seven years ago, were destroyed. It is believed the fire was accidentally caused by a match or cigarette being dropped.
