ORPHAN OF A FLOOD. CHILI) TIED IX A TREE. GENOA, August 15'. Among the most pathetic stories of the Oyaila flood disaster is that of a peasant who, caught in the fields noai Chiaie, took up his little daughter in his arms, climbed a tree and tied her in the branches. He then went home to rescue bis wife, but the house collapsed and both were killed. The child lemained in the tree until nightfall, when a soldier, hearing hoi screams, rescued her.
