(United Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, July 31.
The naval correspondent of tile “Daily Telegraph” says Germany’s 26,000 ton battleships are rapidly approaching the launching stage. They will be named S'charnliorst and the Gneisenau, after the famous wartime ships. Their outstanding features are a speed of more than 30 knots, robust protection, and electrically-worked gun mountings, enabling them to fire three aimed rounds a minute with each gun. They will out-range the guns of every British ship except the Nelson the Rodney and the Hood. Two cruisers, several destroyers and at least 12 submarines are also expected to he afloat by the end of the year. The German naval personnel last year was 15,000, but is now estimated to bo 30,000.
