In the presence*-of his wife, parents, and a large assembly, George Collins, the British gliding champion, was killed at Huntingdonshire.

According to an eye-witness, he had looped twice when a ring dropped off and the glider crashed. Collins, who was 27 years of age, last year flew 95 miles in 265 minutes.
