MINIATURE RIFLES.

THE METHVeN CLUB. There was again a good attendance at the weekly shoot of the Methven Miniature Rifle Club, those present including a number of promising juniors who attended to shoot for a watch

donated by Messrs Thomson and Owers. The following tied, but several competitors have still to complete their shoots:—lt. Cleeve. 68 (handicap 11), 70; J. Mallet 64 (10), 70; G. Dickson 56 (14), 70; N. Law 58 (11), 69. The Junior Hotty Button was won by C. Black for the second week in succession, with a score of 67. The Senior Hotty Button was won by W. It. Law" with a brilliant possible. This shooter was promoted from the junior ranks only the previous week. Other good scores were; J. E. Carr 68, M. Holland 68, J. Rouse 67, T. Middleton 67. Shooting for the Club trophy was not quite so good as usual. The following tied: R. Cleeve 60 (handicap 11), 68, 64, 63, 60; W. Law 70 (5), 68, 65, 66, 67. W. Law retired, leavinf Cleeve the winner of the trophy for the first time. Others to shoot off were: J. Rouse 67 (handicap 4), 67; S. Hyland 69 (1), 68; C. Black 67 (6)Ten shots have been fired for the Club championship, which is in an interesting position. The leading scores are:—S. Hyland 785, M. Holland 785, H. Noble 784, J. E. Carr 782. Eight more shoots have to be fired.

COUNTY SHIELD MATCH.

METHVEN TEAM AGAINST DOME

The Dorie Miniature Rifle Club will send a team to Methven on Thursday evening to fire a match for the Ashburton County Shield, which the Methven Club recently won from Rakaia. The following will represent Methven:—G. Waddington, H. Noble, S. Hyland, M. Holland, J. E. Carr (captain), J. Rouse, W. Lumsden, W. R. Law, T. Middleton, R. L. Haskett, B. Cleeve, N. Law. Emergencies: C. Black, J. Mallett. THE RAKAIA CLUB. The Rakaia Miniature Rifle Association held the weekly practice and in the shoot-off for the H. Hopwood trophy J. Douglas won, and the Kennett trophy was won by the Rev. D. B. Ashford.

The best scores off the rifle were: D. B. Ashford 70, D. Stewart 70, H. Cromie 69, G. Cromie 69, H. Craig 68, C. McKegney 68, E. Duncan 67, L. Oakley 67, H. A, Moray-Smith 67, P. Emanuel 67, B.
