MANY FIRES AND EXPLOSIONS.
STRIKES ON WAGES ISSUES. (United Press Association —Copyright) BERLIN, July 29. The Berlin correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says inquiries by the secret police into a series of fires aiid explosions indicated discontent among German workers leading to sabotage. Strikes are increasing,' but instead of repressing them the Government, in many cases, has ordered increased wages as a concession. The Berlin corresponuent of the “Manchester Guardian” says rising prices are presenting a serious problem to workers, whose wages are subject to numerous deductions for party and other purposes. Meat has risen 10 per cent, and butter costs 3s per lb. Textile prices have increased, and the quality is inferior because of-the admixture of substitutes.
