King Christian appeared on the balcony when 40,000 farmers from all parts of the country demonstrated before the Royal Palace at Smalienborg, threatening stoppage of production unless their grievances were remedied. Their chief demand is removal of politicians from agricultural organisations. The crowd cheered! his Majesty’s speech, in which he sympathetically referred the deputation to the State’s Minister.

The carrying out of the farmers’ threat will obviously affect Danish exports to Britain. (■ “Wo came to negotiate and are now returning for action,” declared the farmers’ leader after tile deputation to the Prime Minister, who promised’ to negotiate with his colleagues.
