THE WEATHER
STEADY RAIN WITH COLD WIND.
A cold southerly wind prevailed in Ashburton this morning, and steady raip set in about 1 p.m., making conditions very bleak and miserable. The barometric pressure this morning was 29.72 inches, and temperatures yesterday and last night varied from 44.6 degrees to 28.4 degrees. Two points of rain were recorded as a result of the shower £&rly this morning, and a frost of 11.2 degrees intensity was experienced this morning.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference : A depression has remained centred west of the Auckland Peninsula, while the pressure has been rising slowly in the South Island. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows:—* Moderate to strong southerly winds. Weather cold and unsettled with rain at times and on the ranges, snow. Seas rough.
