The “Telegraph’s’’ correspondent at Berlin says that following similar bans elsewhere in Germany, the Nazi authorities have dissolved the East Pressian Stahlhelmers, and confiscated their property. The secret police also prescribed, on pain of imprisonment, against the wearing of uniforms and badges, the Church Youth Associations’ indulgence in sports, organised marching, and other group activities. • The leader of the Hitler Youth demanded that Jews be banned from their hostels, adding that Germans cannot be asked to sleep under the same roofs as aliens. The nervous tension these and similar measures is causing is revealed by a statement by the Leipzig police, warning persons against dissemination of rumours that a prominent Nazi has been arrested.
The authorities are also worried regarding the rapid rise in the cost of living. Numerous butchers have been arrested for profiteering, and other traders have been warned that price raising will lead to imprisonment.
