TRAVELLER’S THEFT
WHISKY AMD WINE STOLEN(Per Press Association). PALMERSTON N., duly 25. John George Rutherford, a traveller for wine and spirit firms, was found guilty in the Supreme Court to-day on charges of the theft of a keg of whisky and a case of wine, the property of Hughes and Cossar, Auckland The jury disagreed on five charges of false pretences, in which acused was alleged to have presented bogus orders for liquor on which he was paid commission. The Crown Prosecutor applied for a retrial of the false pretences charges, intimating that it would be necessary to apply to the Solicitor-General for a direction. Accused wus rerunuded for sentence.
