BOMBERS CAUGHT BY DEFENDERS. (United Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, July 23. _ An official communique on the air exercises last night claims to show that London is not so vulnerable as unofficial comment had led many to think. Fighters can be said to have inflicted very heavy casualties among the attacking force. . ' ' Last evening eight squadrons or bombers carried out raids, and on ‘V one full squadron completely evaded the defending fighters. During the night phase, 30 raids were carried out, and 11 of these were intercepted. In the early morning concentrated attacks on London targets were made by eight squadrons, seven being intercepted.— British Official Wireless.
