THE AGRICULTURAL SIDE. HIGHER FARM PRICES AIMED AT (United Press Association —Copyright) WASHINGTON, July 23. By 64 votes to 15 the Senate passed the* bill to amend the agricultural Adjustment Act. In its final form it is much cut and patched, but it broadens and bolsters the Administration's programme for increasing farm prices. Its two main purposes are to provide the Secretary for Agriculture with new weapons to push farm prices to parity with the prices of other commodities, either by! a processing tax or marketing and crop control agreements, and to prepare for the time when the Supreme Court will pass on the validity of the agricultuial programme. ‘ The bill validates all processing taxes imposed before its passing, ratifies then at their present levels, and makes legal all benefit contracts, under which farmers have been paid about 700,000,000 dollars. The bill, which had already been passed by the House of Representatives, now goes back for consideration of the changes made by the Senate.
