JACK DOYLE. EMULATES BAER IN TALK AND "TALKIE" POSE. Jack Doyle, Irish boxer and singer, hurled this challenge at the world's heavy-weight champion recently while he nibbled a late breakfast in his hotel at Hollywood; "I will meet Max Baer either in the ring or at a game of hearts, and I'll beat, him at both. "I will be ready to take Baer on in about a year from now," he continued, "and poor old Max will never know what hit him. "For that matter, I'd fight the whole Baer family. During the eight weeks that Doyle will spend getting acclimatised to California—and getting energetic enough to take breakfast before noon—he intends to accept some "fabulous" offers alleged to have been made by the film kings. "I should be foolish not to accept them," he said. "I am willing to play leading roles opposite any of the girls here." Doyle shrugged his shoulders and added: "Dietrich, Joan Crawford, Anna Sten, any of them—it doesn't make any difference to me. "I love American women. The sweetest little girl I have ever met is Judith Allen. I've seen her several times. I must admit, however, that I admire girls of the Carole Lombard type—tall, beautiful, graceful. "But this movie business isn't really serious. My life's dream is to win the world's title that old Master Jack Dompsey held, and I can take that title from Baer, "I shall return to Ireland With the championship eighteen months from to-day. . And Jack Doyle went back to sleep.
