PIGEON SHOOTING.

THE METHVEN CLUB. OPENING OF THE SEASON. With a good attendance of members as well as many spectators and visitors from outside districts, the Methven Gun Club officially opened the 1935 shooting season at the Mount Harding Racecourse on Saturday, in brilliant sunshine. Prior to the commencement of the matches the president (Mr A. E. Wilson) welcomed all and expressed the wish that shooters v/ould enjoy a successful season. Apart from the beginning when competitors were finding their bearings over the trop, the scoring-board showed some excellent shooting. An under-the-arm match at the close proved most interesting, and while it tried shooters out the practice at this style of shooting should prove more than beneficial to those who took partIn a six-bird clay sweepstake for a trophy the best scorers were: T. S. Harrison 6, J. Harris 6, IS. H. Anderson 6, P. S. McHugh 6, H. J. Freeman 6, J. T. Corbett 6, S. M. Jackman's, A. McLeod 5, G. A. Franks 5, A. E. Wilson 5. The sweepstake was divided and in the shoot-off for the trophy Harrison won on the 14th round from Corbett, after each had missed their 13th bird. Details are:

President's Trophy, 14 clay birds, the winner hold from shoot to shoot, and the shooter with the highest aggregate over all shoots in this competition to become the owner. T. S.
