THE DAVIS CUP CONTEST. NEW ZEALAND v. AUSTRALIA. (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, May 10. Referring to the Davis Cup match between Australia and New Zealand,
H. C. Hopman (the "Sun-HeraTd" correspondent) says:— "I confidently predict a clean sweep for Australia. I base my forecast not only on their great reputation, but because they have revealed considerably greater strength than New Zealand in practice. Andrews is the best New Zealander since the war, and he is waning. Stedman has improved. He has a fast, consistent forehand, and flat, fast service; but he is guileless and has no variety. His backhand is definitely weak. "Both Crawford and McGrath should win all the singles untroubled, without losing a set, unless they relax on the last day. "Stedman and Malfroy have the greatest chance in the doubles. Both have improved their doubles play." The Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, who is spending the week-end as the guest of Lord Moyne, telegraphed.to the New Zealanders: "New Zealand wishes you the best of luck in your Davis Cup match with Australia. Kia or a."
