CHRYSANTHEMUMS EXHIBITED.

DISPLAY IN HAMPSTEAD HALL.

THE SOCIETY'S ANNUAL EFFORT,

To assist its funds, the Hampstead Hall Society held a very successful chrysanthemum show in the Hall this afternoon. The exhibition, which is an annual one, attracted more than the usual patronage and the financial result is expected to be very satisfactory. Entries were more numerous than last year and the quality of the blooms much higher. The judges expressed their pleasure at the excellence of the exhibits in all sections.

The show was opened by Mr J. Connolly, M.P., who was welcomed by Mr W. Thompson (president of the Society). Mr Connolly congratulated the Society on the slioav and expressed the hope that the financial result would exceed its expectations. The judges were Mrs A. Nicolson (sewing), Messrs G. Clark (flowers), F. Madden (cooking), and J. Cook (school section). Exhibitions were staged by Mr A. Clark and Mrs J, Clayton and added to the attraction of the show.

The premier award was given to a bloom displayed by Mr A. E. Harvey. There was a large attendance throughout the afternoon and those in charge of the stalls were kept busy attending to customers. The stallholders were as follow:

Cakes and home delicacies: Mesdames fv. S. McEachen, M. Keeley, and F. H. Knight. Sweets: Mesdames S. G, Mactarlane, J. W. Tinker, H. Money and Miss E. Macfarlane.
