THE RESERVE BANK. THE WEEKLY STATEMENT (Per Press Association.) AVELLINGTON, May 9. The “Gazette” issued to-night contains a statement of assets and liabilities of the Deserve Bank of New Zealand as at the close of business on May 6:—

PROSPECTS ISSUED THE MORTGAGE CORPORATION. The Acting-Minister of Finance (the Hon. A. Hamilton) has issued a prospectus inviting public subscription of £500,000 of the share capital of the Mortgage Corporation of New Zealand, and stated that the list of applications will be closed on or before May 24. The capital of the Mortgage Corporation is to be £1,000,000 in shares of £1 each, 500,000 of which are to be allotted to the Minister of Finance and held by him on behalf of the Crown. The Crown actually provides half of the total share capital, but the' Minister does not have any voting rights as a shareholder of the Corporation. The remaining 500',000 shares are now offered at par for public subsciiption, and as the shares will carry a cumulative dividend of -1 i poi cent, payable out of the profits of the Corporation the Minister confidently expects that the shares will he readily taken up. The shares will be allotted by the Minister of Finance in terms of the legislation, and not more than 5000 shares will be allotted t-o any one person. The liability of every shareholder will be limited to the amount for the time being unpaid on the shares. Payments in respect of shares applied for are to lie made as follow: 2s 6d per share on application, 2s 6d per share on allotment, 5s per share on April 1, 1936, 10s per share on June 1, 1936.

Applications will not be accepted if for less than five or for more than 5000 shares.
