The Air Ministry has circularised aircraft aero engine contractors in connection with the proposed expansion of the Royal Air Force, asking them to accelerate completion of existing contracts in order to ensure preparedness for tendering for any new requirements. The Ministry has also asked manufacturers to inform the Ministry what foreign civil orders they propose to undertake before committing themselves thereto.
A leading manufacturer declares that the Ministry’s letter asks what is the maximum output. It indicates that sufficient orders are available to keep ,tlie works at full pressure producing military aircraft for at» least two years.
