OPPOSITION TO REMOVAL. ifer Piress Association). INVERCARGILL, April 26. At a meeting of the provincial executive of the Farmers' Union to-day Mr E. K. Sim (chairman of the Meat and Wool Committee) said the committee viewed with grave apprehension the inability of the Britisii Government to stamp out foot-ana-mouth disease, and the committee recommended tnat until all danger or infection was proved to be eliminated the raising of the embargo against the importation or stock into New Zealand be opposed.
Members considered that the recommendation was not strong enough, and that the executive should say straight out that it strongly opposed the lifting of the embargo. The recommendation was varied accordingly and carried.
