NAZI DICTATOR.
SUPPRESSION OF NEWSPAPERS. CATHOLIC JOURNALS DOOMED. (United Press Association —Copyright.) BERLIN, April 25. Herr Ammann (the Nazi Press chief), has promulgated a law which is expected to eliminate all newspaper opponents of Nazism, and to end an embittered struggle which has continped since the Nazis gained power.. It compels all newspaper publishers to register the names of persons interested in the newspapers and the amount of their share, also proof of whether their origin is Aryan as far back as 1800, which is more sweeping than the Aryan test for officials. It also prevents the publication of newspapers by joint stock concerns, cooperative, public, professional or class organisations, although Nazi Party nominees are excluded from the provisions, which mean the disappearance of Catholic newspapers unless exempted by Herr Ammann, who is now Press dictator.
He is empowered summarily to dismiss editors and employees. The newspapers are permitted six months in which to comply.
