MOTOR WORKS STRIKE
TWO THOUSAND EMPLOYEES. FAILURE OF NEGOTIATIONS!, (United Press Association—Copyright). MONTREAL, April 23. A message from Toledo says that over two thousand employees in the Chevrolet Motor Company's plant there walked out on strike to-day following the collapse of negotiations with General Motors Company's executives. The interest of the entire car industry is focussed on the strike, it being* the first major hold-up of it 9 kind in the present era of labour conflict, and it is viewed as a possible test of strength between* the unions and employers. While wages and conditions are in dispute the real bone of contention is the demand of the union to a ninety per cent, representation among the Chevrolet employees.
