MEDICAL SCIENCE.
AN IMPORTANT DISCOVERY. ENCOURAGING RESULTS. (United Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, March 21. The “Morning Post” gives prominence to a discovery made by Dr. V. G. Walsh (an Australian), and Dr. A. O. Fraser, at St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School t London.. It is understood that Dr. Walsh is at present on a visit home. The discovery was the result of six years investigation and concerns emulsified olive oil, injections of which apparently have the power to. absorb and render harmless toxins produced in the blood in acute bacterial disease. It is stated that the doctors have been able in 20 cases of lobar pneumonia to shorten the duration of hospital treatment by nearly half and to reduce the period of convalescence by even more.
Encouraging results have also been obtained in cases of rheumatic fever, erysipelas and septieremia.
