THEFT OF FUNDS.

COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. (Per Press Association.) THAMES, March 22. James Morrison Fox, a married mail, aged 37, appeared on remand in the Police Court to-day, charged with the theft of £994 19s 9d, the property of the Thames Harbour Board, of which the accused; for formerly secretary. The Government auditor gaye evidence that there had been no attempt at falsification of the ■ books and records other than a cheque for a minor amount. The accused frankly admitted the shortage prior to the audit, but did not know the amount, and had given every assistance. The accused pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court at Auckland 1 for sentence. Bail was allowed in the sum of £2OO, with two sureties of ‘£loo each.
