A PALMERSTOtt RESOLUTION. (Per Press Association.) PALMEiRSTON N., March 12. As the Dominion finances are improving, and as sales tax is providing a far greater sum than at first was anticipated the Chamber of Commerce this evening passed** a motion recommending to the authorities that the tax be reduced progressively with the general improvement of the country's finances till ultimately it is abolished.

At a largely attended meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, a resolution was passed against the continued collection of the sales tax, the growth in the amount being pointed to as seriously affecting spending power. Opposition to discrimination between the city andl country rates of relief pay was likewise expressed, but satisfaction was recorded as to a semiprovincial adjustment of the differential rates arising from the new scale.
