UNEMPLOYED RELIEF.
PRESBYTERIAN VIEWPOINT. BETTER PROVISION NEEDED. (Per Press Association.; CHRISTCHTJROH, This Day. Expressing the view that the Government should take more responsibility in relieving distress among the unemployed, and should make better arrangements for relief in coming winter, the Christchurch Presbytery to-day passed a resolution defining its attitude on the unemployment situation.
The resolution stated, inter alia that the present rates of relief pay were inadequate to maintain men without additional help from dharitable sources, and the Presbytery realised the increasing difficulty of continuing such supplementary assistance on an adequate scale.
