BASKETBALL.

THE TINWALD CLUB. SECOND! SUCCESSFUL SEASON. The third annual meeting of the Tinwald Basketball Club was held on Saturday, Miss It. M. Doak presiding over a good attendance of members. The annual report stated that the club had commenced its second season with a membership of 21. Two teams had been entered in the Ashburton Basketball Association’s competitions, one senior and one junior. The senior team had been fairly successful, winning the senior competition and being runner-up in the knock-out and in the South Canterbury tournament held at Timaru on June 4. From all points of view the season had been a most successful one and the keen interest of all members would assure the future success of the club. The club’s annual ball had been held oil September 12 andi proved to be very successful. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr H. L. Barker; president, Airs S. W. Gower; vice-presidents Mesdames L. 'Porter, J, Grice, P. J. Andraw, L. Maginness, O. Rooke, T. Wilson, K. Wilson, H. Hewson and M. P. Cooke; secretary, Miss H. Grice; treasurer, Aliss C. Hewson; club captain, Aliss Al. Forsythe; delegate to Ashburton Basketball Association, Miss R. M. Doak; coach, Aliss It. Al. Doak, committee, Aiisses H. Grice, C. Hewson, Al. Forsythe, M. Doak, B. Bell, T. Stalker, R. Andrew end L. Wilson. It was decided to hold practices on Wednesday evenings throughout the season.
