LAST PAPERS SIGNED. tPer Press Association). WELLINGTON. March 11. Lord Bledisloe to-day .signed his last papers as president of the Executive Council of New Zealand. As the meeting of the Council was the last one at which his Excellency would be present before liis departure for England, advantage was taken of the opportunity by Mr Forbes and Mr Coates to place on record their appreciation of the services to New Zealand of its departing Governor-General. Both paid tributes to the outstanding part played by liis Excellency during his term of office. To-morrow afternoon Lord Bledisloe will be the guest of honour at a Parliamentary luncheon. Arrangements have been completed for the official farewell to their Excellencies Lord and Lady Bledisloe when they go on board the Rangitiki on Friday morning. The final scenes on the wharf will include guards of honour from the naval and military forces. Provision has been made for the public to view the departure from the wharf. HONORARY DOCTORATE CONFERRED. WELLINGTON, March 11. The University of Edinburgh has decided to confer upon Lord Bledisloe the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws, and his Excellency has accepted an invitation to proceed to Edinburgh on June 28 to receive it. VICE-PRESIDENT OF BIBLE SOCIETY. WELLINGTON, March 11. The London Committee of the British and Foreign Bible Society has asked Lord Bledisloe to become a vice-presi-dent of the society. His Excellency has intimated his acceptance.
