ASHBURTON STOCK SALE. BUTCHERS’ KEEN COMPETITION. NO CHANGE IN FREEZING LOTS. There was a fair yarding at the Ashburton saleyards to-day for the weekly stock market. Store -sheep were lorward in big lots but the cattle entry was small. There was a good attendance of buyers and butchers’ lines were up Is a head on the last sale. There was no change on freezing lots. Competition was fairly keen generally, particularly among buchers. Cochrane Brothers (Elgin) topped the fat ewe market with a fine line of three two-tooth maiden ewes at 23s lOd and another line of four at 16s 7d. Miss Griffiths (Ashburton) secured a good price at 19s 9d for a fat lamb. A N. MacMillan (Winchmore) 19s lOd for a line of eight, and a client sold seven at 19s lOd.
