CYCLIST FATALLY INJURED. APPARENTLY STRIKES A FENCE. (Per Press Association.; WELLINGTON, This Day. Receiving very serious injuries when thrown from a motor-cycle at the summit of Paekakariki Hill yesterday afternoon, Mr J. C. White, a farm hand employed at Paekakariki, died on admision to the hospital. He received fracture of the skull, concussion and shock. As he was travelling alone it is not known liow the accident occurred, but lie appeared to have struck a fence, The front wheel was completely buckled. TWO INJURED IN COLLISION. ONE IN VER Y PERIODS -STATE. WELLINGTON, This Day. Following a collision between a motor-cycie and a motor-car near Paraparaumu, a cyclist and pillion rider were admitted to hospital with extensive injuries. The injured are Ronald Seddon, aged’ 18, of Levin, who was riding pillion, who received a compound fracture of the skull and severe concussion, his condition being serious, and Clifford Hayes, aged 18, also of Levin, a farm hand, who sustained severe lacerations and fracture of the right leg. His condition is satisfactory. Dense smoke from a burning swamp clouded the road at the time of the collision. DROWNED IN A LAGOON. HOKITIKA, This Day. Mr William James Hayward, a single man, aged 21, was drowned while swimming in Okarito lagoon yesterday morning. Ho came from Waiau, North Canterbury. His body lias not been recovered.
