LADY YOUNG'S FLIGHT
FAULTY COMPASS BLAMED. CARRIED 90 MILES BY NATIVES. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 11.15 a.m.) CAPE TOWN, March 8. Lady Young (wife of Sir Hubert .Young, Governor of Northern Rhodesia) who made a forced landing on ,the banks of the Zambesi, attributes her misdirection of her flight to a faulty compass. Petrol ran short and she decided to land in an open space. The crop proved to be a Kaffir corn, which clogged the undercarriage and the 'plane overturned. The natives supplied food. Dr. Kirby knew the native language. Lady 'Young was carried 90 miles I through, dense bush by natives. Dr. Kirby walked.
