The Hon. J. Bitchener (Minister of Public Works) passed through Ashburton on the south-bound express tram this morning.

Mr Gavin Loudon, of Palmerston North, is visiting Ashburton.

Major A. J. Suter, of Christchurch (Salvation Army Divisional Commander) paid a short business visit to Ashburton to-day.

Sir John Perring (a member of the London City Council), who has been visiting the Southern Lakes and Mount Cook, passed through Ashburton by car to-day on his return to Christchurch.

The Rev. G. B. Hinton left for Oamaru by the express train this morning to exchange nulpits to-morrow with the Rev. J. F. Jack, who will conduct harvest thanksgiving services in the Baring Square Church. Mr Jack will arrive from Oamaru this evening.

Messrs W G. Gallagher (chairman) and A. Prentice (secretary), who represented the Ashburton Hospital Board at the annual conference of the Hospital Boards' Association in Napier this week, returned to Ashburton by train this morning. e
