WOMEN’S TEST MATCH. ENGLAND CONTINUES INNINGS. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. After batting all Saturday afternoon to score 430 for four wickets, England continued the first innings against New Zealand in the women’s cricket test match to-day. Misses E. M. Child l (70) and E. Archdale (27) went in to face the bowling of Misses H. Miller and iP'. Taylor. Only one run off the first five overs, both batswomen playing on the defensive.

Miss Archdale was caught at squareleg by Miss N. Browne in Miss Taylor’s third over without adding to her score. 432—5—27.

The scoring was still slow, although the next player, Miss M. Richards, played forcing shots. After half an hour the total was 442 for five. Miss Child had scored 69. With the score at 444 Miss R. Symons, the slow right-hander, came on. Miss Richards touched her second ball high over her head to the boundary. She repeated the performance with her fourth ball, to reach double figures and bring 450 up. Miss Symons, in attempting to field a high drive from Miss Richards, was struck on the cheek bone and had to leave the field, Miss M. Nortman replacing her. England declared with, five wickets down for 503.

Miss Child had made 86, and hit five fours.

New Zealand opened again with Misses M. Marks and H. Buck against the bowling of Misses Maclagan and M. Taylor. Miss Buck had made 14 when she was struck by a. rising ball from Miss Maclagan, and had to go off. Miss Savin went in next, and started brightly. New Zealand were showing more confidence, and the score mounted. Miss J. E.
