LAYING TOTALISATOR ODDS. (Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, This Day. On four charges of having laved totalisator odds, John Joseph Lowery was fined £4O.
“This is the first time I have heard the suggestion that the path for betting has been greased by going to church,” commended the Magistrate, when counsel for Lowery contended that a constable with whom defendant had made bets had ingratiated himself with defendant while they were on the way to earlv-morning church.
