MILD AND BRIGHT CONDITIONS. After a brilliant day yesterday, the night air was keen, but to-day broke fine and conditions were warm again. The sun shone in a hazy sky and there was a night northerly wind. The barometric pressure • this morning was 29.19 inches. There was a considerable variation in shade Headings of the thermometer yesterday and last night. The maximum temperature was-73.8 degrees and the minimum 44.6 degrees. Extremes on Saturday were 60.2 degrees and 43.3 degrees. TO-DAY’S FORECAST (Per Piress Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General inference: A moderate anticyclone covers the Dominion, the centre being over the North Island. A very shallow depression is advancing across the Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island’ from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Light to moderate northerly winds prevailing, but a change to southerlies advancing from the south to-morrow morning. Weather fine. Temperatures warm. Seas smooth to moderate.
