MILD AND BRIGHT CONDITIONS. After a brilliant day yesterday, the night air was keen, but to-day broke fine and conditions were warm again. The sun shone in a hazy sky and there was a night northerly wind. The barometric pressure • this morning was 29.19 inches. A very shallow depression is advancing across the Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island’ from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Light to moderate northerly winds prevailing, but a change to southerlies advancing from the south to-morrow morning. Weather fine. Temperatures warm. Seas smooth to moderate.
