LADIES’ GUILD.

THE METHODIST CHURCH. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The annual meeting of the Baring Suare Alethodist Church Ladies’ Guild was held in the schoolroom yesterday afternoon. The president (the Rev. G. B. Hinton) presided over an attendance of 40 members. A motion of sympathy was passed to Mr and Mrs Kruse in their bereavement, and letters of sympathy and cheer were directed to be sent to Mrs Thomas and Airs Coates. A letter was received from the Ashburton branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union inviting members to an afternoon on March 5 to' meet Mrs T. E. Taylor (Dominion President of the Union). The invitation was accepted. The secretary and treasurer submitted their annual reports, the treasurer’s statement showing a credit balance of £2l 11s.

The following officers were elected: — President, the Rev. G. B. Hinton; vice-president, Sister Alildred; secretary, Miss E. A. Watson; treasurer, Mrs G. F. Fowke ; pianiste, Airs W. H. Higgins; social committee, Alesdames H.. J. Constable and L. Stone. It was decided to hold a harrow fair early in August. Conveners were appointed for the different barrows. Several names were suggested as speakers for the year, and it was also agreed to have three social afternoons. Afternoon tea was provided by'Alesdames W. Rr. Featherston, A. Oliver and 0. S. Hawkey.
