SMALL CRAFT IMPERILLED.
PLEASURE VESSEL’S LONG TRIP. (United Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.4,0 a.m.) LONDON, August 12. A storm in. the English Channel and ofF the east coast of England imperilled many yachts and other small craft yesterday and a number of rescues were effected. Early in the morning the Clacton lifeboat was launched' to search for the pleasure steamer Clacton which, with 600 passengers on board, was much overdue on the passage from Chatham. Sho arrived six hours’ late, about 4 o’clock this morning, with all on hoard safe. The storm completely spoiled the last few days’ racing of the Royal Yacht Squadron’s regatta at Cowes. Several dingies capsized, hut assistance was promptly at hand and the occupants were rescued. —British Official Wireless. •
