METHODS CONDEMNED. VIEWS OF MEDICAL MAN. LONDON, July 28. In an address at the conference, of the British Medical Association, Dr. Wynne Maitland caustically condemned the coddling mother, given to soothing words and outstretched arms.Modern life, said Dr. Maitland, coii-, tained a deliberate and calculated, aversion from all bodily and mental pain! Nevertheless pain was definitely of an educational value. ' The obsession to eliminate it increased sensitivity and enormously extended the field of painful exposure. Nb"attention should be paid to a hurt child beyond providing the remedial necessities.
