ENTERTAINMENTS.

MAJESTIC THEATRE. A veritable "Who’s Who” of the. stage and screen appears in "Broadway to Hollywood,” dazzling pageant of half a .century in the theatre in which the great names of Hollywood and Broadway units. The' spectacle, in which a stoiy of human di'ama is sux*rounded by the pageantiy of theatredom from the days of the famous Tony Pastor to the modern talking film era, will be shown at the Majestic Theatre finally to-night. Its ‘ brilliant aggregation of stars includes Alice Brady, Jackie Cooper, Jimmy Durante, Frank Morgan, Madge Evans, Eddie Quillan, Fay Templeton, May Robson and Russell Hardie. The history of this family covers almost sixty years of showdom. Alice Bi'ady and Frank Morgan play the original dancing team at Tony Pastor’s. Their son, played by Jackie Cooper, grows up and joins the act. Later this son is played by Russell Hardie. He marries Madge Evans, and the story is then brought up to modem days with the action centring on the grandson who becomes a Hollywood star. The .climax shows the old grandfather teaching his errant grandson that "the show must go on” in a stirring dramatic episode concluded with a gigantic "talkie” ballet typifying the progress of the entertainment woi'ld.

DRUIDS’ ANNUAL BALL. The annual ball of the Star and Success of Ashburton Lodges, U.A.0.D., was held in His Majesty’s Theatre last evening, when there was a fairly good attendance, including representatives of other lodges in the district. Decorations were carried out by the committee, of which Brother O. Ives was chairman and Bro. G. V. Furby and 1 Sister R. Crum were joint secretaries. The grand march was led by Bro. R'. Lattimer and Sister B. Wallis, Arch Druids tif the Star and Success Lodges respectively. The masters of ceremonies were Bros. T. A. Miller and A. I. Garriock. The music was played by Mrs A. Mitchell’s orchestra,, while Mr R. Daybourne played three extras. Prizes were won as follow: —First coupie up, Mr R. Daybourne and 9 partner; luck 31 spot waltz, Mr R. Campbell and Miss Thompson; Monte Carlo, Mr ». Johnston and Miss J. Turnbull. SCOUT EUCHRE PARTY. A. euchre party held in St. Stephen a Hall last evening in aid of the iunds of the St. Stephen’s Boy Scout Committee was not largely attended. I was expected that there would have been a larger attendance of Scouts parents. Prizes were won by Mrs Morton and Mr L. H. Arnst. 1
