WATERFRONT DISPUTE
SHIP IDLE AT LYTTELTON.

, i CHRISTCHURCHI May 30. The Fede-nl liner Cumberland which arrived at Lyttelton this morning from Wellington to discharge Liverpool cargo, remained idle all day owing to a dispute between the watersiders and the Railway Department.' Labour was engaged to start at 0 a.m. but the watersiders refused to commence work until the number of men engaged to remove tarpaulins from trucks was increased from four to five. The Department refused'' the request. The ship's watersiders were kept standing by until the afternoon;
