THE ASHBURTON ASSOCIATION.
ELECTION OF THE OFFICERS.
The annual meeting of the Ashburton High School Old Pupils’ Association was held last evening, Dr. G. I.
Miller presiding. The balance-sheet showed that the year began with a credit balance of £l7 13s and finished with a credit of £2 11s. Magazines for two years costing £55 had been paid for during the year. The annual report stated that the activities of the association had been mostly connected with the school. The school honours board had been extended and space was provided for inscriptions for several years. The concert held by the association in conjunction with the school had raised more than £lO school’s sports fund. The annual sports contests between the school and association had proved very successful, and the association had again held Anzao Day services at the school. The following officers were elected :- President, Dr. G. I. Miller; vice-presi-dents, Messrs E. A. Cockroft, J. M. Mcßae, and N. Robilliard; secretary, Mr A. Cookson; treasurer, Mr A. Bathurst; committee, Misses D. Arthur, I. Totty, M. Watt, Messrs B. Knox, H. McElrea, A. Bruce, and J. Lane; sports committee, Mr N. Robilliard (convener), Misses B. Millichamp, M. Carson, R. Bell; correspondent to the “Ashburtonian,” Mr J. M. Mcßae; auditor, Mr D. H. Moore. It was decided to congratulate the North Canterbury branch of the'association on its activity and on its satisfactory report. > It was agreed to recommend the committee to suggest to the school that the Anzac Day service should he held on Anzac Day. The committee was requested to consider the establishment of a scholarship fund and to arrange for an old boys’ banquet. It was decided to send a letter ot condolence to the relatives of the late Mrs H. Wills, who was the first girl enrolled in 1884.
