An amateur aviator, Maurice Arnoux, won the Deutsche de la Neurthe Cup over a 2000 kilometre course at Stamps, at an average speed of 241 3-sth miles an hour. M. le Brun (the President of France) was so thrilled, that he flew back to Paris in a military! 'plane. This is the first flight by any President.
