A streamlined, Diesel-engined train, named the Zephyr, to-night completed a run from Denver to Chicago at an average speed of 77.6*.miles an horn for 1017 miles. The elapsed time was 13. hr 4min, cutting 12hr 41min from the fastest regular running time of the Burlington Railway Company's lines, over which the test was made, and setting up a new longest non-stop record. The. fastest speed : a-eached was 112 miles an hour, compared with the record of 115.2 miles an hour held by the Philadelphia and Reading Railway Extraordinary precautions were taken for the Zephyr's run, all other traffic being side-tracked and special guards watching the line virtually throughout its entire length.
