Dona Aurora Rodriquez, aged 50, was found guilty of the murder of hei daughter, Hildegart Rodriquez, aged 19, on June 11, 1933. She was sentenced to 26 years' imprisonment. She said she is relieved at the sentence as she feared that she would be sent to a lunatic asylum. "I am not mad, although the defence tried to prove insanity. I shall continue to fight from prison for race purification," she continued. The prosecution alleged that Dona Rodriquez- murdered her daughter because she resented the influence of a man with whom Hildegart fell in love.

A message from Madrid on June 12 stated:—■

The career of Hildegart Rodriguez, a notable writer and reformer, aged 19, was ended to-day when she was shot dead by her mother, aged 50, who surrendered herself to the police. Havelock Ellis, writing in the "Adeb phi Magazine," extols the amazing talent of the girl, whom he styles St. Hildegart, owing to lier pioneering spirit in the cause of bumanity. The mother, a remarkable woman, reared her daughter eugenically without baptism or religious instruction. Hilegart, whom her mother taught, could make words with letter blocks at 11 months of age, read at 22 months and could write at 30 months She .went to a university at the age of 13, wrote prize essays on the world's famous lovers at 14, and gained a degree m law at the age of 17. She studied medicine, philosophy and music, and was an accomplished linguist.
