SAFETY IN STREETS.
NATIONAL MOVEMENT. INAUGURATION IN WELLINGTON. v (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, May 25. Supported by the Transport Department and the City Council, Accident Prevention Week, which is intended to Be tlio initiation of a national safety movement, begun in Wellington today. Throughout the week there will be a display of posters. In addition, shopkeepers will exhibit “don”t” cards in windows, slides will be shown at picture theatres, pedestrian crossing signs will be erected in city streets, traffic inspectors will advise pedestrians on the correct manner to cross streets, and information and news statistics relating to street traffic accidents will be published. Other features are an accident prevention procession, addresses to school children, and a window display competition.
