CROWN TENANTS.
t ANNUAL MEETING HELD. NEW OFFICERS ELECTED. The annual meeting of the Midi-Can-terbury Crown Tenants' Association was held this afternoon, when the president (Mr It. W. Wightman) presided. The financial statement showed that the year opened with a credit balance of 8s lid, and closed with a credit balance of 10s 9d. Subscriptions had totalled £lO 7s 6d. The president referred to the work of the Association during the year, and said that its services had been called upon in a number of cases which had been conducted to the end that families had been kept on their land. Cases which, on the surface,, appeared to be hopeless, had been taken up, and success had been achieved. The Minister had done a good deal for tenants, but nothing had been done regarding the future. Members felt that there should be on the Land Board a member who had a thorough knowledge of mixed farming, and the Association would have to fight for revaluation ot land. He thought the Association would grow in the near future, and he entered a plea for more co-operation on the part of Crown tenants. Members expressed appreciation of the work of the president and the secretary (Mr W. H. Amos), to whom a vote of thanks was passed. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr J. H. Robertson; vicepresident, Mr B. McKay; delegates to the Dominion Executive,, Messrs McKay and A. Moore; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. HI. Amos.
