BADMINTON.
THE ASH BURTON CLUB. The annual meeting of the AshburEon Badminton Club was held on Wednesday evening, Mr A. Prentice presiding. The following officers were elected:—■ President, Mr A. Prentice; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr T. L. Crooks; club captain, Mr R. A. Bullock ; committee, Misses W. L. Porter, I. Easterbrook, V, Dearsley and I. Cambridge, Messrs W. 0. Hayes, I. Gilchrist, E. Johnston, A. McDonald, E. Clark and D. Harwood. It was reported that the membership was stronger than it had 1 been for the last two years. It was decided that the nights for play should be Tuesdays. The club held its opening night in conjunction with the annual meeting. It was decided to institute a ladder competition this season.
