three men arrested.(Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, January 28. In a raid by the police at the public bar of the Carlton Hotel at mid-day yesterday three men, Alexander Gourlav (the barman), James Kennedy, and James Ernest Gillan (assistant liarman), were arrested concerning alleged breaches of the Gaining Act. The arrests were made so suddenly and quickly that those present in the bar had little time to realise what was happening. Later the men were brought before Mr Watts. J.P., and remanded on bail to appear at the Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
