After a week-end of rumour and uncertainty the Government resigned following the revelations in connection with the Stavisky affair and the resignation of the Minister of Justice, M. Reynaldy. M. Cautemps, the Premier, refused the request of the President, Mi Albert Lebrun, to form a new Government. . Earlier it was announced that M. Reynaldy had definitely resigned. He hoid been accused of accepting, shares, for which he only partly paid, in a company promoted by M. Sacazan, who is charged with fraud and embezzlement. On Saturday several thousand demonstrators attempted to march on the Chamber of Deputies by devious separate routes, singiiig the “Marseillaise,” and shouting “Down with the robbers.” All were dispersed by the police after some fighting.
